This salad has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl. My grandma made it often at big family dinners and it became a staple in my family as I got older. I am the only one in my immediate family who eats it since Paul and the kids don’t like tomatoes or peppers but that doesn’t stop me from making a single serving to enjoy! I also make big batches of this for our big family dinners and it’s always one of the first things to go.
Now you’ve gotta like a little kick of heat because banana peppers can range in heat the way a jalapeño ranges in heat. You can get a mild one or a super spicy one. I love when I get them and they are spicy because I love spicy food! But even one that is mild in heat still makes for a delicious salad.

A dash simply means the amount is up to you and your personal taste. I eyeball everything and I’m pretty heavy handed on seasonings since I like my food to have lots of flavor. If you like lighter seasoning then add less but if you’re still looking for an approximate amount I probably add about 1/8 of a teaspoon of each seasoning.
